SCHENECTADY COUNTY LEGISLATOR AND RETIRED TEACHER

BRIAN MCGARRY TO HOST ASSEMBLY CAMPAIGN KICK-OFF IN ROTTERDAM

Republican State Assembly Candidate and current Schenectady County Legislator Brian McGarry will officially announce  he will be running for State Assembly in the 111th  District at a campaign kick-off in Rotterdam later this week. Friends, family and supporters will accompany McGarry at the announcement. McGarry, a long-time Rotterdam resident, is a retired Duanesburg teacher and successful small businessman.

“My wife, Patty and I, my family and extended family and friends are all very excited to make this announcement,” said McGarry. “As I have been making my rounds at events and walking door-to-door, I have been taken aback and extremely humbled by the outpouring of support I have received from people. I want to thank my good friends, Sens. George Amedore and Jim Tedisco, for all their support and confidence in me as well.”

                         WHAT:          Campaign Kick-Off Announcement

                         WHERE:       47 Continental Road

                                                Rotterdam, NY 12204

                         WHEN:          Friday, May 18, 2018

                                                11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

As the son of a B-17 pilot in World War II and a stay-at-home mom with four brothers and sisters, Brian McGarry was instilled with core values centered around family, religion, hard work, the importance of education and how public service can have a positive impact on your community. McGarry, a life-long resident of Rotterdam, and his wife, Patty, continue to live by these values and have passed them along to their six children.

“It is no secret that Albany is in desperate need of reform,” said McGarry. “I will champion priorities that matter to us: protecting our loved ones from domestic violence at home and sexual abuse in the workplace, reducing one of the nation’s highest tax burdens so families and seniors can stay in their homes and employers can stay in business, combating the growing heroin epidemic plaguing our loved ones, ensuring our upstate schools receive the same amount of school aid as children in New York City, providing our children with the quality education  they deserve, and stopping the corruption and outright theft in our state government. With your help and support, I know we can restore the public’s trust in our government and accomplish a great deal for the future of our state.”

The 111th Assembly District encompasses all of Montgomery County and parts of Schenectady and Albany counties.

MCGARRY WEIGHS IN ON ATTORNEY GENERAL ERIC SCHNEIDERMAN’S RESIGNATION

“The claims that have been reported are without question very serious. I am saddened by these claims of domestic violence and appalled by the actions taken by yet another person with great influence over others – in this case a public official elected by the people. It is unacceptable and quite simply put – we need to do better to protect women, victims of domestic violence, and sexual harassment. I am encouraged that the women, who unfortunately experienced these abuses, had the courage to step forward and make their voices heard, and I plead with the other victims who remain in the shadows to step forward and make their voices heard as well. It is disgraceful it took these accusations and political pressure from the governor to finally force the resignation of New York state’s chief law enforcement officer from a post in which he swore to uphold the law. The framers intended for the occupants of elective office to be men and women of integrity. Make no mistake, domestic violence and sexual harassment are real and have no place in our homes or work places. I have no doubt that justice will be served to the full extent of the law.”
